Crow's Nest has several possibilities ranging from $150 to $300. A charger which can charge each bank independently at 7-10A per bank would be ideal. -- approved. DONE
- Add battery charger clips and wood storage posts to new charger.
- Add Plexiglas shield to top of new charger to protect LEDs.
- Copy and laminate instructions.
- Build battery holder. (Should prevent incorrect connections and hold Grp-24 and Grp27 batteries)
- Buy basic battery load tester for determining battery charge. (~$50)
- Check alternator output on the outboards.
Charlotte a Catalina 27'
- Some basic instructions for Charlotte
- General repairs
- Clear up title issues on Charlotte.
- Replace windex. (Watch the trees)
- Thoroughly scrub out of bilge. (remember leeward side, overboard)
- Replace engine lazarette hatch hinges.
- Wash out starboard side storage lockers.
- Wash out battery compartment area -- 'dri-z-air' spill.
- Replace cockpit winch handle holder.
- Top off depth sounder transducer.
- Clean cutting board.
- Replace bilge cover with something less absorbent and more latch-able.
- Sails / Rigging
- Replace Mainsail top seam of bottom panel failed. (approved for $500)
- Replace top slug on main -- broken off.
- Replace port side cam (broken) on traveler assembly. (FICO)
- Add second tack fitting.
- Rig for spinnaker (sym. or asym.)
- Engine
- Attach linkages for throttle / shift lever.
- Refill tool box: 2 10/7.5HP Honda spark plugs.
- Hull
- Blend hull repair (starboard side)
- Electrical
- Fix intermittent steaming light. Grounding problem at fixture.
- Make battery tie-down.
- Trace electrical, label and re-wire as necessary. -- main panel re-built and rewired. Need to continue with labeling battery leads and cleaning up other wiring.
- Replace bilge pump switch. (2p2t, reversing) -- spst installed
- Plumbing
- Re-plumb head. Double clamp. Improve access. Add anti-siphon valve.
- Attach holding tank in place.
- Mount head use instructions and list of pump-out stations.
- Install a new fresh water tank and plumbing.
- Install manual 'whale gusher' bilge pump. Accessible from cockpit.
Columbia 26'
- Repair shift mechanism on outboard.
- Repair battery connections, install ground and power bar if necessary. (Patched for now. Positive wire needs to be replaced -- bad splice.)
- Forward hatch cracked -- rebuild or replace.
- Add second tack fitting.
- Check zinc on keel.
- Find modern outboard to fit or replace boat.(Sell ~4k OBO)
- Need good sailing pictures of Columbia for advertising.
- Match gel coat on hull repair (starboard side)
- Gel coat and blend wear spot (starboard side)
- Patch gel coat damage -- with matched gel coat.
- Repair or replace alcohol stove.
- Find teak cutting board that belongs on the boat.
- Rig for spinnaker (sym. or asym.)
- Find a Columbia '26 main.
- Find a suitable #3 jib.
Neptune 24'
- Bruce and Glenn to fix mast. -- DONE
- Replace broken spreader fitting.(Glenn, Bruce)
- Remove duct tape from around pop-top.
- Touch up bright work.
- Clean, polish, wax, and buff.
- Need good sailing pictures for advertising.
- Bruce and Glenn to sell this summer (Sell ~2.2K OBO All offers considered)
Out of service
Bristol Caravel 22'
- Change oil in outboard.
- Check jibs for rip -- repair
- Paint the topsides (finish paint to boot stripe. clean and paint transom.)
- Check low speed jet and idle stop setting -- stalls at idle.
- Replace pull cord -- 1 turn short.
- Repair starboard, aft quarter with fiberglass -- hole in corner. (outside done -- finish inside.
- Refill tool box: 2 10/7.5HP Honda spark plugs, plug wrench
- Replace first-aid kit.
- Finish new coaming pieces with Cetol. (1st coat both sides done -- 3 coats each to go)
- Adjust forestay / backstay to allow proper genoa tension
- Replace Jib Halyard. To allow proper luff tension and replace broken wires.
- Add / replace telltales on lapper and genoa.
- Repair battery connections -- install a ground and power bar.
- Re-wire. Use proper marine grade wire and fittings.
- Find alcohol stove (retrieve from Columbia?)
- Add telltales (3) to the leech of the main.
New Boat
- Sell (or sink;-) Neptune 24' (~2.2k OBO)
- Mount outboard engine mount on Columbia.
- Gel coat starboard side of Columbia, sand and buff.
- Spray gel coat deck of Colombia.
- Sell Columbia 26' (~4k OBO)
- Once Neptune and/or Columbia sold -- find Catalina '27, Ranger '26 or similar boat.
